Charles V. Curley is a seasoned commercial litigator. For more than 15 years Mr. Curley has litigated in the state and federal courts of Pennsylvania and New Jersey. During that time Mr. Curley has developed a specialty in employment law.

Mr. Curley has been on both sides of various workplace litigation including ADA, sexual harassment, FMLA, Title VII, non-competition agreements, Fair Labor Standards Act and ADEA claims. Mr. Curley has also provided counseling to employers on federal and state compliance with employment laws and contract drafting and review.

Mr. Curley has delivered several employment related training and informational seminars. He has presented to clients, associations, and local trade groups over the past five years. Mr. Curley publishes articles on various employment topics primarily designed to assist employers to avoid lawsuits. On a daily basis Mr. Curley advises clients on how to hire and fire, comply with discrimination laws, administer COBRA, and negotiate severances.

Mr. Curley has successfully tried commercial cases in the state and federal courts of Pennsylvania and New Jersey involving: breach of contract, breach of warranty, fraud, bad faith, defamation and slander, wrongful denial of insurance disability benefits, breach of non-compete agreements, violations of ERISA, discrimination laws involving age, disability, sexual harassment, and pregnancy, the Family Medical Leave Act, wage claims involving the Fair Labor Standards Act, and wage payment laws of Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He has also appeared before various state and federal agencies representing both employer and employees in the mediation of disputes.

Mr. Curley graduated from the American University in Washington, D.C. in 1986 with honors and a B.A. in Literature. In 1990 he graduated from Villanova University School of Law and began his legal career with the center city law firm of Clark, Ladner Fortenbaugh & Young. Mr. Curley is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Mr. Curley serves as an arbitrator for the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas and is a member of various bar associations.


Ethan N. Halberstadt has successfully litigated commercial cases in the state and federal courts of Pennsylvania and New Jersey for over 15 years. Mr. Halberstadt's focus is on the representation of individuals and businesses in a variety of commercial disputes.

Mr. Halberstadt has prosecuted and defended businesses in complex business torts, including cases involving the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), violation of the antitrust laws, copyright and trademark infringement, misappropriation of trade secrets, fraud, defamation and trade libel, commercial disparagement, breach of contract, and civil rights cases.

Mr. Halberstadt is regularly retained by commercial property owners in all variety of real estate matters, including landlord tenant disputes, actions to quiet title, lease negotiations, and property tax assessments, and has taught seminars to commercial property owners interested in protecting their legal rights.

In addition to representing businesses in complex tort litigation, Mr. Halberstadt also regularly represents businesses in all aspects of commercial collection matters, ranging from straightforward execution proceedings to sophisticated fraudulent transfer litigation.

In addition to practicing in the both the state and federal courts of Pennsylvania and New Jersey, Mr. Halberstadt also appears before the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission, representing businesses in actions against public utilities.

Mr. Halberstadt graduated magna cum laude from Temple University in 1986, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English. In 1989 he graduated from the Villanova University School of Law where he began working as an associate with a small Philadelphia area suburban law firm. Mr. Halberstadt spent the next 14 years with the law firm, 7 years as a partner, helping it grow into one of the largest suburban law firms in the area. Mr. Halberstadt is a member of the Montgomery County and Chester County Bar Associations, and is a member of the Montgomery American Inn of Court.

Mr. Halberstadt was honored by Law & Politics Magazine and Philadelphia Magazine in 2006 as a "Pennsylvania Super Lawyer" in the area of Business Litigation.


Scott M. Rothman joined Halberstadt Curley in May 2005, following his graduation from Temple University’s Beasley School of Law in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Mr. Rothman’s civil practice has focused on a wide range of commercial disputes, employment law, and copyright and trademark litigation.

Mr. Rothman has counseled a variety of business clients as well as individuals, and has litigated both plaintiff and defense cases.  He has experience in a variety of legal forums, including private arbitrations, judicial arbitrations, bench trials, and jury trials.  His client base includes architects, construction firms, computer consulting firms, utility consulting firms, a national uniform service company, a scrap metals trader, a kitchen cabinet distributor, a private school, a title insurance underwriter, a mortgage lender, and a home warranty company.  Mr. Rothman has also represented a variety of individual claimants including terminated employees, employees subject to restrictive covenants, employees with unpaid wages, homeowners with water-infested basements and defective stucco, minority corporate shareholders, investment partners, and holders of copyrights and trademarks.

While at Temple law school, Mr. Rothman worked part-time as a judicial clerk for the Honorable William P. Mahon of the Chester County Court of Common Pleas.  Mr. Rothman also served as the Senior Note/Comment Editor of Temple’s Political & Civil Rights Law Journal.

Mr. Rothman received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, earning a B.A. in English Literature.  Prior to embarking on his legal career, Mr. Rothman built low-income housing and taught high school mathematics in North Philadelphia.
